Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, accurately documenting findings in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support patient transfer methods safely using appropriate techniques to prevent injury for both patients and staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and ensuring all medical documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Provide basic nursing care under supervision, including wound care, catheter care, and medication administration as authorized by nursing staff.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
- Assist with specialized care needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, behavioral health support, or palliative/hospice care when required.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or in long-term care facilities preferred; experience in acute or sub-acute settings such as ICU or trauma centers is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic technique, and basic life support (CPR).
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks/Cerner) systems for accurate documentation.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and safe manual handling practices while maintaining patient safety.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Prior experience in specialized areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, pediatrics, or behavioral health is advantageous but not required.
