Duties
- Lead and supervise nursing teams across multiple units, including acute care, long-term care, behavioral health, and specialized units such as ICU, PICU, or dialysis.
- Develop staffing schedules, monitor workload distribution, and ensure optimal patient-to-nurse ratios to maintain high-quality care standards.
- Oversee clinical operations ensuring adherence to HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, and internal policies related to medical documentation, medical records, and nursing policy compliance.
- Coordinate patient assessments, discharge planning, and case management activities while ensuring accurate medical documentation and ICD coding for billing purposes.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives focusing on infection control, medication administration safety, ventilator management, and other critical care protocols.
- Facilitate team meetings to promote effective communication using managerial communication skills; provide ongoing staff training on EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth.
- Ensure compliance with long-term care regulations and manage care facility teams to deliver compassionate dementia care, Alzheimer's memory care, and specialized behavioral health services.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current registration in the relevant state; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
- Extensive nursing leadership experience with proven success supervising multidisciplinary teams in hospital or long-term care settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in critical & intensive care environments including ICU, Level I & II trauma centers, or neonatal/pediatric units such as NICU or PICU.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and utilization review processes.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, diagnostic evaluation techniques including sonography or laboratory experience.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; background in geriatrics or memory care is highly valued.
- Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to lead change initiatives while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare laws.
- Ability to perform physical examinations, venipuncture (phlebotomy), catheterization procedures, sterile technique practices including suturing and specimen collection.
