Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Operate and document using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to ensure precise medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform specialized procedures including IV infusions, catheterizations, suturing, wound care, ostomy management, and sterile processing techniques.
- Provide critical care interventions in emergency situations such as trauma medicine, ICU scenarios, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and acute pain management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and patient education to promote optimal recovery and health maintenance.
- Support patients across various settings including hospital medicine units, outpatient clinics, hospice & palliative care programs, behavioral health facilities, and home care environments.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license (RN) in good standing with current state certification.
- Proven experience working with diverse patient populations in settings such as critical care (ICU), emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, or long-term care facilities.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding and medical documentation standards.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterile processing.
- Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as venipuncture, phlebotomy, tube feeding management, ventilator support, and laboratory specimen collection/processing.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; familiarity with memory care and dementia care is highly valued.
- Ability to respond effectively in critical situations involving trauma centers (Level I & II), cardiac catheterization labs, or urgent/emergency care environments.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and patient education; physical stamina for long shifts involving standing and mobility.
