Role Description The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is a part-time to full-time, on-site role based in Spokane Valley, WA. The COTA will implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, focusing on improving clients’ daily living and functional skills. Daily responsibilities include conducting therapeutic activities, documenting progress, and assisting with assessments and goal setting. The COTA will collaborate closely with caregivers, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care. Additional tasks may include assisting with program development, participating in team meetings, maintaining accurate records, and supporting home care carryover through education and training.
Qualifications
- Foundational clinical skills in Pediatric Occupational Therapy with a strong sensory emphasis to support and implement treatment plans under appropriate supervision.
- Strong Patient Care experience, including safe, compassionate, and person-centered interaction with individuals of diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Ability to contribute to Program Development, including suggesting activities, routines, and resources that enhance therapy services.
- Experience or interest in Home Care, including training clients and caregivers on home programs and functional activities in daily environments.
- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of Washington.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document accurately and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and professionalism in managing caseloads and schedules.
- CPR/First Aid certification and experience in outpatient, community, or pediatric settings are preferred but not required.
