Debt Resolution Specialist

Responsibilities of the Debt Resolutions Specialist:

• Monitors and reviews overdraft reports daily
• Works with customers and third-party collections agencies. Brings major issues or concerns to the attention of the Debt Resolutions Manager
• Maintains accurate files, notes, and reports on all collections activities. Responds to consumer disputes from Credit Bureau Agencies to ensure proper reporting of account activity
• Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to bring current
• Analyzes the financial situation of delinquent borrowers to determine possible modifications due to hardship. Collects on returned checks, delinquent property, taxes, and negative shares-- freezing shares as required. Submits delinquency loan activity for supervisor
• Understands basic bankruptcy and garnishment laws. Logs new bankruptcy cases and bank attachments per procedures
• Gathers information on delinquent loan activity for the Debt Resolutions Manager. Prepares a variety of reports, and recommends policy and procedure updates as needed, and to ensure compliance with regulations
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements of the Debt Resolutions Specialist:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• One to two years of previous collections experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of banking products, services, policies, and procedures
• Previous telephone customer service experience
• Excellent oral, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Tech-savvy including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
