Senior Revenue Accountant

We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to oversee revenue accounting and ensure compliance with ASC 606 guidelines. In this role, you will apply advanced judgment to complex contracts and provide valuable financial insights that influence public company disclosures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP to support cross-functional teams and ensure accurate financial reporting. This position is based in Virginia, and while predominantly remote, does require periodic travel into the corporate office.

Responsibilities:

• Apply ASC 606 standards to various revenue streams, including voice, video, and data, and manage complex enterprise contracts with precision.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts such as accounts receivable, deferred revenue, and contract assets, ensuring accuracy between subledger and general ledger.

• Lead monthly and quarterly revenue close processes, performing detailed variance analyses and preparing executive-level materials.

• Develop revenue-specific schedules and disclosures to meet public company regulatory requirements and support Form 10-K and 10-Q submissions.

• Maintain strong operational oversight of Sarbanes-Oxley controls, including thorough documentation and audit record retention.

• Act as the primary contact for external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits, providing detailed analyses and timely responses to inquiries.

• Collaborate with sales, legal, and product teams to review contracts and provide technical accounting guidance for compliant revenue recognition.

• Participate in user acceptance testing and offer expert support for system enhancements related to revenue processes.

• Proven experience in revenue accounting and a solid understanding of ASC 606 standards.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and apply U.S. GAAP effectively.
• Proficiency in managing month-end and quarterly close processes.
• Expertise in general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance standards and audit processes.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external auditors.
• Advanced knowledge of revenue recognition accounting principles.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification is preferred.
