Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team in Independence, Missouri, on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in preparing client documents for external audits and possess a strong understanding of governmental accounting practices. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting audit processes.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed client documents for external audit purposes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial standards.
• Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice approvals and payment reconciliations.
• Develop and maintain audit schedules, providing essential documentation to auditors.
• Analyze and interpret financial data to identify discrepancies and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure alignment with governmental accounting practices.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and related reports.
• Maintain organized and accessible financial records for audit and internal review.
• Provide insights on financial processes to improve efficiency and compliance.
• Support the team during peak audit times by addressing urgent accounting needs.
• Proven experience in accounting, with a focus on audit preparation and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with governmental accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in managing accounts payable processes.
• Strong ability to create and maintain audit schedules.
• Excellent analytical skills for interpreting financial data and resolving discrepancies.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and external auditors.
• Ability to work under deadlines, especially during audit periods.
