Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems supporting production and processing operations. This role is responsible for ensuring all electrical and control systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will evaluate system performance, diagnose issues, perform repairs, and support installation and commissioning activities for electrical and instrumentation equipment. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and operational integrity.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment.
- Test and evaluate electrical systems and instruments to ensure performance meets operational standards.
- Diagnose electrical and control system issues and develop repair or corrective action plans.
- Document all maintenance activities, system failures, and corrective actions taken.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Follow permit-to-work systems and ensure proper authorization for maintenance activities.
- Support and promote a strong safety, health, and environmental culture.
- Ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance tasks and preventive maintenance programs.
- Provide technical support to operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
- Review electrical and control system specifications, drawings, and work practices.
- Participate in and contribute to technical meetings and operational discussions.
- Support installation, inspection, and commissioning of new electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Verify quality and compliance of new installations and recommend improvements when necessary.
- Generate and manage Management of Change (MOC) documentation for electrical and control systems.
- Maintain clear communication with team members regarding maintenance activities, safety concerns, and operational updates.
- Assist in work prioritization to support operational efficiency and reliability.
- Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving electrical and instrumentation issues.
- Act as a backup for lead electrical and instrumentation roles when required.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and stay current with industry standards, codes, and technologies.
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or related technical field required.
- Technical certifications in electrical or instrumentation disciplines required or strongly preferred.
- Experience maintaining electrical and instrumentation systems in industrial, processing, or oil and gas facilities.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, control systems, and instrumentation principles.
- Familiarity with oil and gas facility operations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working under permit-to-work systems (PTW/PTWS).
- Knowledge of Operations Integrity Management Systems (OIMS) or similar frameworks preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and reporting skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in team environments and cross-functional groups.
- Strong computer proficiency for documentation, reporting, and maintenance systems.
- Safety-oriented mindset with strong awareness of operational risk management.
- Experience in oil and gas production or processing facilities (onshore or offshore).
- Experience supporting commissioning, start-up, and facility expansion projects.
- Knowledge of Management of Change (MOC) processes and implementation.
- Experience supporting lead technician or supervisory roles in electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
- Familiarity with advanced control systems, automation, and instrumentation technologies.
- Industrial or field-based facility environment.
- Exposure to electrical systems, instrumentation equipment, and operating production facilities.
- May require shift work, overtime, and on-call availability.
- Must be able to work safely in high-risk environments with strict adherence to safety procedures.
