Role Description
As a Compressor Technician, you will be responsible for commissioning and decommissioning conventional and high-pressure compressors, coordinating pressure tests, and bringing new units online. The role includes inspecting new builds and expansions during construction, conducting final inspections and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and learning daily gas compressor and facility operations. Responsibilities include maintaining good housekeeping standards, handling on-call duties, and driving a company vehicle to various locations. This is a learning-focused position involving identification, diagnosis, repair, and replacement of equipment using appropriate tools, as well as performing basic troubleshooting. You will maintain up-to-date reporting of facility operations and ensure all requirements for the JBPE are met, regularly interact with foremen, compressor operators, mechanics, lease operators, and occasionally work side-by-side with contractors. Additional responsibilities and special projects will be assigned by your supervisor.

Responsibilities

- Maintain good housekeeping practices
- Handle on-call duties and drive company vehicle to locations
- Learn and utilize appropriate tools to identify, diagnose, repair, and replace equipment
- Perform basic troubleshooting
- Maintain current reporting of facility operations and fulfill all JBPE requirements
- Engage in daily interaction with foremen, compressor operators, mechanics, and lease operators
- Occasionally work alongside contractors
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Supervisor
- Demonstrate technological efficiency
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification required
- Mechanical or oilfield related experience required – 2.5 years preferred
- Prior compressor gas lift operations preferred
- Knowledge of ancillary compressor equipment including fuel gas skids and engines for gas driven machines and medium voltage transformers/VFDs/motors for electric machines preferred
- Knowledge of common automation/control equipment related to gas compression preferred
- Prior mechanical and/or oil field experience preferred
- Current valid vehicle operator’s license with an insurable driving record required
