Responsibilities
- Correlate and refine target windows for horizontal well planning using logs, subsurface interpretations, and offset well data
- Develop and deliver well planning products, including target maps, structure maps, cross sections, and target window definitions
- Support pre-spud planning activities and align with drilling and execution teams
- Identify geologic variability, risks, and constraints, and communicate impacts to stakeholders
- Integrate offset well performance data and lessons learned into ongoing well planning efforts
- Continuously improve well planning workflows, templates, and targeting methodologies
- Ensure execution feedback is incorporated into future development and planning decisions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including drilling, engineering, and geoscience groups
- Maintain high standards for data quality, interpretation accuracy, and documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Mid-to-advanced level experience in unconventional oil and gas operations
- Strong experience in well planning and geologic operations
- Proficiency with geologic interpretation software, including Kingdom (required) and Petrel (preferred)
- Solid understanding of subsurface mapping, stratigraphy, and structural geology
- Experience working with well logs, cross sections, and subsurface datasets
- Ability to analyze and incorporate offset well data into planning decisions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple disciplines
- Ability to identify risks and provide practical, data-driven recommendations
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
