We are seeking an experienced Lease Operator II / Upstream Field Operator to support the safe and efficient operation of oil and gas wells, production facilities, and associated equipment. This position is responsible for monitoring production operations, optimizing equipment performance, conducting facility inspections, supporting maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating oil, gas, and water separation facilities, performing well surveillance, troubleshooting production equipment, and supporting facility start-up and operational activities. Responsibilities
- Safely operate and monitor oil and gas production wells, processing facilities, and associated equipment.
- Serve as the primary operations contact for assigned wells and facilities.
- Monitor production systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
- Understand process flow, equipment line-ups, and facility operating conditions.
- Review operational data, process trends, and facility schematics to optimize performance.
- Conduct routine field inspections using visual, auditory, and physical observations to identify equipment or process issues.
- Issue Safe Work Permits and support safe execution of maintenance and contractor activities.
- Perform gas testing to ensure safe working conditions for operational and maintenance tasks.
- Gauge tanks, read meters, collect product samples, and accurately record production data.
- Monitor differential pressures, temperatures, flow rates, chemical injection rates, vibration levels, and other operating parameters.
- Identify and address leaks, freezing conditions, overheating, corrosion, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Perform visual maintenance inspections to ensure equipment operates within established performance limits.
- Adjust process parameters to maintain production targets and product specifications.
- Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling activities as required.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper production records, gauge sheets, and operational logs.
- Verify control valve positions and equipment alignment.
- Perform basic maintenance activities including lubrication, filter changes, tightening valve packing, clearing equipment, and other routine tasks.
- Communicate facility conditions, operational changes, and equipment issues to supervisors and team members.
- Support winterization and seasonal equipment preparation activities.
- Utilize handheld monitoring devices and computerized systems to monitor field equipment performance.
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment including fire extinguishers, fire hoses, breathing apparatus, and emergency response equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Support environmental compliance programs and minimize operational impacts including spills, emissions, and product losses.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and assigned equipment in safe operating condition.
- Support emergency response activities and operational incident reporting.
- Work independently while contributing to overall team objectives and operational goals.
- High school diploma required; technical certification, trade school training, or college coursework preferred.
- Previous experience as a Lease Operator, Production Operator, Field Operator, Pumper, or related oil and gas operations position.
- Strong knowledge of oil, gas, and water production operations.
- Experience operating and maintaining surface production equipment.
- Knowledge of separation equipment, tanks, pumps, piping systems, valves, and production facilities.
- Understanding of safe work permitting processes and gas testing procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational and equipment issues.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills.
- Computer proficiency and ability to utilize electronic reporting systems and monitoring tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with diverse work groups.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and respond to call-outs as operational needs require.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

- Ability to perform routine field inspections and maintenance activities throughout production facilities.
- Field-based position supporting oil and gas production operations.
- Rotating shift schedule with potential nights, weekends, and holiday coverage.
- On-call availability may be required.
- Exposure to production equipment, process systems, and outdoor operating conditions.
- Independent work environment requiring strong operational judgment and decision-making skills.
