This role requires the ability to review technical documentation, conduct field inspections, identify deficiencies, and ensure work is completed safely and accurately.
ResponsibilitiesInspection & Quality Assurance
- Inspect contractor installation of conduit, wiring, tubing, fittings, and associated electrical and instrumentation components.
- Verify proper installation of instrumentation and control equipment, including transmitters, flow measurement devices, control valves, switchgear, communication systems, and related field devices.
- Ensure construction activities comply with project specifications, drawings, codes, and industry standards.
- Monitor construction quality and identify non-conforming work requiring corrective action.
- Document inspection findings and maintain detailed inspection records.
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, wiring schematics, loop diagrams, and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Verify installations align with approved engineering documentation and design requirements.
- Support testing, commissioning, and startup activities as required.
- Provide technical feedback regarding installation methods, equipment configuration, and compliance concerns.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices on construction and operating sites.
- Ensure contractor compliance with OSHA requirements, site safety procedures, and industry regulations.
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, and field inspections.
- Monitor work areas for potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with project management, engineering teams, contractors, and operations personnel.
- Prepare inspection reports and communicate project status, deficiencies, and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, punch lists, and corrective actions.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) experience in industrial, oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or related facilities.
- Experience inspecting electrical and instrumentation construction activities.
- Knowledge of installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical and control systems.
- Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical drawings and schematics
- Loop drawings
- Wiring diagrams
- Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Construction and engineering specifications
- Familiarity with instrumentation systems including:
- Electronic flow measurement
- Ultrasonic meters
- Transmitters
- Control valves
- Switchgear
- Radio and communication systems
- Pneumatic and electronic control systems
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices.
- Knowledge of inspection techniques, quality control processes, and construction standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical degree, trade school training, or advanced education preferred.
- Applicable inspection certifications and qualifications required.
- NEC training preferred.
- ISA (International Society of Automation) training preferred.
- Oil & gas production and facilities experience.
- Construction inspection experience on electrical and instrumentation projects.
- Experience supporting commissioning and startup activities.
- Familiarity with industry quality assurance and safety management systems.
- Full-time project-based position.
- Field-based role with routine site inspections and contractor oversight.
