Position Overview
The Director of Operations is responsible for leading all aspects of multi-unit bakery café operations, driving performance across corporate and franchise locations. This role will oversee strategic planning, operational execution, financial performance, and team development, ensuring alignment with company goals and brand standards.
This is a highly visible leadership role, partnering closely with executive leadership to drive growth, optimize performance, and support expansion into new markets.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple café locations
- Ensure consistent execution of brand standards, product quality, and guest experience
- Drive operational excellence through best-in-class processes and continuous improvement initiatives
Strategic Planning & Growth
- Develop and implement short- and long-term operational strategies aligned with business goals
- Support new market expansion, including site selection and new store openings
- Partner cross-functionally to execute company initiatives and growth plans
Financial Performance
- Own and drive key performance metrics including sales, profitability, and operational KPIs
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Analyze performance data and implement action plans to achieve business objectives
Franchise Partnership
- Act as a strategic partner to franchise owners, ensuring alignment with brand standards
- Support franchise performance through coaching, operational guidance, and accountability
- Maintain strong relationships to drive consistency and growth across all locations
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of operations leaders and managers
- Foster a high-performance culture through accountability, recognition, and continuous feedback
- Support talent development, succession planning, and performance management
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain high standards in food quality, merchandising, and operational execution
- Oversee facility maintenance and equipment management across locations
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of progressive multi-unit operations leadership experience in restaurant, bakery café, or retail environments
- Prior experience in a bakery café or similar concept strongly preferred
- Proven track record in managing high-growth, fast-paced organizations
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L and key performance metrics
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to lead and develop diverse teams
