We are seeking a Shop Dispatcher to support daily shop operations and equipment logistics within a heavy civil construction environment. This is a detail-oriented, hands-on role responsible for coordinating schedules, managing equipment movement, and ensuring smooth communication between shop, field, and operations teams.
This position plays a key role in maintaining workflow efficiency, minimizing downtime, and supporting overall project execution through effective scheduling and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage daily and weekly shop production schedules to ensure timely completion of work
- Plan and schedule equipment moves, including labor, trucks, and lifting requirements
- Obtain required permits and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Communicate scheduling updates with:
- Internal teams
- Drivers
- Project Managers
- Vendors
- Monitor job progress and adjust schedules based on delays or changing priorities
- Coordinate with shop leadership on equipment availability, utilization, and maintenance planning
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Schedules
- Permits
- Job status updates
- Identify and resolve logistical or scheduling conflicts proactively
- Ensure all scheduled work complies with safety and operational standards
- Provide regular updates on scheduling performance and resource allocation
Key Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in:
- Dispatching / scheduling / logistics / shop coordination
- OR supervisory/lead role in a shop or construction environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of:
- Shop equipment and operations
- Safety regulations and compliance standards
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to handle schedule changes and breakdowns
- Experience with scheduling or construction software (HCSS is a plus)
- OSHA 30 is a plus
- Valid driver’s license
Compensation & Details
- Base Salary: $65,000 – $70,000
- Bonus: ~5% based on individual and company performance
- Location: Chagrin Falls, OH (On-site role)
