Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support the Project Manager and field teams in planning, coordinating, and executing public works construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, understands the complexities of publicly funded construction, and is eager to grow into a leadership role.
Candidates with experience in DSA‑regulated projects, Design‑Build delivery, or publicly funded construction will be prioritized.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and cost controls
- Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, and document control in compliance with DSA and public works requirements
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and school district representatives
- Participate in design coordination meetings for Design‑Build projects
- Ensure project documentation meets DSA standards, including field reports, inspections, and closeout packages
- Assist with procurement, subcontractor onboarding, and contract administration
- Monitor jobsite progress and support field teams with timely information and resources
- Promote and uphold company safety standards and quality expectations
- Contribute to a positive, solutions‑oriented project culture
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred)
- 2–5 years of experience in commercial or public works construction
- Experience with DSA, Design‑Build, or publicly funded K–12 projects strongly preferred
- Understanding of construction documents, schedules, and cost management
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project)
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse project stakeholders
