Job Summary
The Critical Care Registered Nurse provides high-acuity nursing care to critically ill patients. The role involves independent clinical judgment, advanced patient monitoring, medication administration, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams in a critical care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to critically ill patients in a Critical Care/ICU setting
- Perform patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation using the nursing process
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses and complications
- Document patient conditions, treatments, and outcomes accurately
- Respond to rapidly changing clinical situations and emergencies
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans where appropriate
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure quality care
- Follow hospital protocols and critical care standards
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in acute care or critical care preferred (new graduates may be considered)
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state or compact license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills in high-acuity environments
