Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units to join our dedicated healthcare team. Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications via IV infusion, injections, or oral routes following aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Monitor patients on telemetry to detect cardiac arrhythmias or other critical changes, ensuring prompt intervention when necessary.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, and imaging procedures including CT scans or sonography.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with patient needs and medical directives.
- Provide education on medication management, post-operative care, pain management strategies, and discharge planning tailored to patient conditions.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital standards while ensuring seamless communication within the care team.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation and order entry.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to adult acute care settings.
- Experience working with individuals with complex medical needs including ICU experience, trauma medicine, or Level I/II trauma center background.
- Skilled in critical care procedures such as airway management, ventilator support, ostomy care, or spinal tap techniques.
- Ability to perform advanced nursing skills including suturing, IV insertion, catheterization (including urinary and central lines), and sterile processing techniques.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures, and laboratory experience for diagnostic evaluation.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication tailored to diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health patients or those with developmental disabilities.
