Duties
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile, organized, and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools with precision.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses throughout surgeries to support optimal outcomes.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection prevention protocols to uphold hospital standards.
- Operate medical equipment such as endoscopy tools, cardiovascular monitors, and sterilization devices safely and effectively.
- Collect and document data related to surgical procedures, patient responses, and equipment usage in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support post-operative care by ensuring proper instrument sterilization, handling specimens accurately, and assisting with patient transfer when needed.
Requirements
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program is required.
- Proven experience assisting in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to surgical procedures.
- Hands-on experience with cardiovascular surgery assistance, neurosurgery support, orthopedic procedures including fracture treatment, and pediatric surgeries is advantageous.
- Familiarity with hospital medicine, critical care environments such as ICU or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and emergency medicine protocols.
- Proficiency in medical equipment operation, sterilization techniques, suturing skills, and treatment of fractures.
- Knowledge of infection control practices including aseptic technique and healthcare-associated infection prevention strategies.
- Excellent analysis skills for monitoring vital signs and interpreting physiological data during surgeries.
- Ability to work effectively within electronic health records (EHR) systems and manage medical records accurately.
