Key Requirements:

  • Valid Special Education – Visual Impairment (P–12) teaching certificate
    OR
    Special Education certificate with a Visual Impairment endorsement
  • Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision in educational settings
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities with teachers, staff, and families
  • A commitment to fostering independence through adaptive technology and Braille instruction
  • Ability to travel between multiple school sites as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Assess the individual needs of students and develop tailored instructional strategies
  • Deliver direct instruction in areas such as Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility skills
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to modify curriculum and create accessible materials
  • Participate in IEP development, progress monitoring, and regular student evaluations
  • Maintain detailed records of student performance and adapt interventions as necessary
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for staff, students, and families on visual impairment best practices

This role begins July 27th, 2026, and continues through May 25th, 2027, with a consistent schedule of approximately 20 hours per week—ideal for those seeking flexibility while making a significant impact.
