Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1 years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Knowledge of Braille, large print, assistive technology, and other adaptive tools
  • Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments preferred
  • Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and goal setting
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Compassionate, patient, and responsive to student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, both in individual and group settings
  • Develop, adapt, and implement lesson plans and materials tailored to students’ abilities and learning styles
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure access to the curriculum
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and provide recommendations for accommodations and modifications
  • Train students in the use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility concepts, and life skills
  • Monitor student progress and participate in IEP meetings, reporting on achievements and adjusting strategies as needed
