A position is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing serving middle school students in Charlotte, NC. This contract role runs from as soon as possible through May 22, 2026, with an expectation of approximately 2 hours per week providing specialized instruction and support. The teacher will work directly with 2 students on caseload, tailoring educational approaches to meet their individual hearing and communication needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement IEP goals aligned with students communication and academic needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed to promote educational success
- Utilize assistive technologies and specialized teaching methods appropriate for deaf and hard of hearing students
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience supporting middle school students with hearing impairments
- Strong knowledge of communication methods, such as American Sign Language or auditory-oral techniques
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Effective organizational and communication skills
