Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Charlotte, North Carolina

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1 years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A position is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing serving middle school students in Charlotte, NC. This contract role runs from as soon as possible through May 22, 2026, with an expectation of approximately 2 hours per week providing specialized instruction and support. The teacher will work directly with 2 students on caseload, tailoring educational approaches to meet their individual hearing and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Develop and implement IEP goals aligned with students communication and academic needs
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed to promote educational success
• Utilize assistive technologies and specialized teaching methods appropriate for deaf and hard of hearing students

Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
• Experience supporting middle school students with hearing impairments
• Strong knowledge of communication methods, such as American Sign Language or auditory-oral techniques
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Effective organizational and communication skills
