School-Based Speech Pathology Assistant | Fremont, California

Bachelor's degree from an ASHA-accredited university, active Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) license and minimum 1 years speech-language pathology experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity seeks a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide on-site support in an early childhood school setting. The role is based in the Fremont/San Jose, CA area, serving a classroom of approximately 25 to 27 students diagnosed with moderate to severe autism. Most students are non-verbal and use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices or tablets, requiring a compassionate and resourceful approach.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct speech and language therapy services tailored to students with moderate to severe autism.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized speech and communication goals.
• Utilize AAC devices and other communication tools effectively to support students expressive and receptive language skills.
• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and adjust strategies as needed.
• Engage with families and educators to ensure consistency and positive communication outcomes during and beyond therapy sessions.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid credential as an SLPA or SLP, with current licensure or certification as required by the state of California.
• Comfort and experience working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, particularly those who are non-verbal.
• Knowledge of AAC systems and technology, with the ability to support students in device usage.
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a commitment to fostering student growth in communicative abilities.

Position Details:

• Location: Fremont/San Jose, California
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00/8:30 AM to 4:00/4:30 PM with some schedule flexibility; full-time hours preferred.
• Contract role for the school year
