- Be comfortable advising on plan documents, fiduciary duties, and compliance
- Have an outgoing, client-facing personality
About The Opportunity
The incoming attorney will work directly with the department head, service an existing client base, and be groomed to take over leadership of the practice. There is genuine, near-term upside here for the right person.
What You'll Be Doing
- Draft and amend plan documents: ESOPs, 401(k)s, profit-sharing plans
- Advise clients on ERISA compliance, fiduciary duties, and plan corrections
- Support M&A transactions through benefits due diligence and plan transitions
- Build and maintain direct client relationships with a long-term ownership mindset
- Work closely with a retiring partner to absorb and grow a substantial book of business
- 2–10 years of dedicated ERISA/ESOP experience
- Substantive knowledge of plan document drafting and ERISA compliance
- Outgoing, relationship-oriented attorney comfortable leading client conversations
- Ambition to eventually run the practice — this is a leadership track, not a support role
