What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Manager position at Piper Maddox?
Construction Manager | Community Solar | Illinois | $135K 20% Bonus
I'm currently partnering with a leading distributed energy developer and IPP that's investing heavily in community solar and battery storage across the U.S. Unlike many developers that sell projects after development, this company develops, builds, owns, and operates its assets long-term, with over 500 MW deployed across 12 states and plans to invest more than $3B to bring an additional 2 GW online over the next five years.
They're looking to add a Construction Manager to their Illinois team to serve as the owner's representative onsite, overseeing EPC contractors and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.
Responsibilities include:
- Act as the onsite owner's representative during construction
- Manage EPC contractors across safety, quality, schedule, and budget
- Track project progress and construction milestones
- Support QA/QC, commissioning, and punch list activities
- Coordinate with internal engineering and project management teams
Ideal background:
- 5 years of utility-scale solar construction experience
- Construction Manager, Superintendent, or similar field leadership experience
- Strong EPC oversight and contractor management
- OSHA 30 preferred
- Willingness to travel approximately 75% throughout Illinois
Compensation:
- ~$135K base salary
- Approximately 20% annual bonus
- Competitive benefits package
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being in the field and wants to join a growing owner/operator with a long-term investment strategy in community solar.
Salary : $135,000
