Piper Maddox has been exclusively retained by a fast-growing Independent Power Producer (IPP) to recruit a Manager of Accounting.

Having rapidly scaled its portfolio to over 1.5 GW of operating wind, solar, and BESS assets across major U.S. ISOs (PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, SPP, MISO), this platform is aggressively expanding through M&A and asset optimization.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting and working closely with executive leadership (CFO, M&A, and PE Deal Teams), you will lead core accounting operations, financial reporting, and complex technical accounting for a multi-gigawatt renewable portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Core Accounting & Financial Close: Oversee daily/monthly/quarterly close processes, intercompany eliminations, fixed asset ledgers, and consolidated financial statements across multiple project entities.
• Complex Renewable Accounting: Lead accounting for RECs, capacity payments, HLBV schedule updates, tax equity model maintenance, and offtake agreements.
• M&A & Asset Integration: Partner with internal M&A and private equity deal teams on financial due diligence and seamless integration of newly acquired operating assets.
• Technical Accounting & Compliance: Draft technical memos (ASC 842, hedge accounting, revenue recognition), manage annual external audits, and oversee debt covenant/reserve account compliance.
• Tax & Treasury Collaboration: Assist with ITC/PTC compliance tracking, tax equity reporting, and project-level treasury workflows.

Who We Are Looking For

• Experience: 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Industry Focus: Strong background in the Energy, Power, IPP, or Infrastructure sectors (Renewables-Wind, Solar, Storage-strongly preferred).
• Technical Depth: Hands-on familiarity with project finance structures, complex tax equity partnerships, and HLBV accounting.
• Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA license strongly preferred (MBA/MAcc a plus).
• Mindset: A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment with strong cross-functional communication skills.
