Manager of Technical Solutions (HYBRID))

Piper Companies is seeking a Manager of Technical Solutions to join a life insurance company, through hybrid work in Frederick, MD. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, owning the successful delivery of backend-heavy digital platforms while aligning engineering execution to business transformation goals.

Responsibilities of the Manager of Technical Solutions:

• Lead a backend‑focused engineering team delivering scalable digital platforms using .NET, Java, microservices, and cloud technologies, ensuring high quality and on‑time delivery.
• Own agile execution and engineering excellence, including sprint delivery, technical design oversight, and proactive management of technical debt.
• Partner with product and business stakeholders to align technology strategy with enterprise transformation and business objectives.
  
  

Qualifications of the Manager of Technical Solutions:

• 5 years of experience leading software engineering initiatives, including platform modernization, cloud‑based systems, and microservices architectures.
• 2 years of people management experience, mentoring and developing engineering teams in agile environments.
• Strong backend engineering background with .NET and Java (Angular experience is a plus).
• Proven ability to align technology delivery with business goals in regulated or enterprise environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent professional experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  
  

Compensation of the Manager of Technical Solutions:

• Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 (depending on experience) 20% annual bonus potential
