Staff Accountant

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detailed oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, focusing heavily on operations of our transportation-related assets, as well as assisting in the monthly accounting close process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly entries related to operational costs, such as fuel, leases, and insurance.
• Analyze fuel usage, lease (financial & operational) payments, and other operational costs versus the annual budget and monthly forecast.
• Assist in building and maintaining various monthly reporting packages to aid the assets side of the business to ensure the team is getting the reporting and analysis they require to answer questions and help move the business forward.
• Experience with Right Angle or other marketing system.
• Other ad hoc tasks as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with all safety policies, internal controls, and environmental regulations.

Other Functions:

Special projects- where needed individuals will be required to be involved in company initiatives~ breaking down various costs down by vehicle type, product, and customer channels.

Minimum Requirements:

• 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally in transportation, logistics, or the petroleum/fuel industry.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., PDI, Microsoft Dynamics GP/BC, or SAP).
• Understanding of fuel logistics and related costs, lease (financial vs operational) is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Adaptable and capable of working in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent Excel skills required
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
