Position Summary:
The Settlements Analyst provides essential operational support to the Commercial, Marketing and Financial business lines, with a focus on the accurate and timely processing of transactions. This role is responsible for confirming trade details, processing settlements, and resolving discrepancies in close collaboration with counterparties and internal stakeholders. The Settlements Analyst operates within a defined set of internal controls and established procedures, handling standard transactions and escalating complex exceptions as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Confirm trade details entered into the system against contracts and deal sheets following established verification procedures; flag discrepancies to the appropriate team member or supervisor for resolution guidance on non-routine items.
- Process and confirm settlement of standard financial transactions " including cash and payments " within required cutoff times and in accordance with prescribed internal controls and written procedures.
- Monitor a defined queue of settlement activity; identify and log fails, apply standard remediation steps for routine exceptions, and escalate aged or high-value items to senior staff or management as directed.
- Communicate with counterparties and internal contacts (trading, treasury, accounting) on routine settlement inquiries and discrepancies; escalate unresolved or complex issues to senior team members.
- Compile and distribute daily settlement reports and exception summaries using established templates; maintain transaction records and supporting documentation in accordance with recordkeeping standards.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives by documenting observed inefficiencies and providing input on workflow changes as directed by management.
- Support internal and external audits by locating and providing requested documentation and responding to standard control testing inquiries under the direction of senior staff.
- Maintains compliance with all PTL policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in financial operations, settlements, or a related back-office function.
- Ability to work accurately under time pressure and meet daily cutoff deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with effective organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with settlement or operations platforms a plus.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field required.
