What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Scientist – Injectable Drug Product Development position at Pharmaceutical Company?
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist to join the Injectable Drug Product Development team within the Pharmaceutical Development & Clinical Supply (PDCS) organization. This is a hands-on, lab-based role that offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative injectable therapeutics.
In this role, you will support drug product development activities by performing experimental studies related to formulation, analytical characterization, and process development. You will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment alongside cross-functional teams, contributing to programs that have the potential to deliver life-changing medicines.
🧪 Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute laboratory experiments focused on drug product characterization, including analytical and biophysical testing
- Perform techniques such as HPLC/UPLC (IEX, SEC), capillary electrophoresis (iCE/Maurice), and other biophysical methods (DLS, CD, DSC, NanoTemper)
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and compile findings into technical reports and documentation
- Support process development activities for injectable drug product manufacturing
- Maintain accurate and compliant records using ELN/electronic lab systems
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines
- Assist in troubleshooting experimental challenges and proposing scientific solutions
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols, GMP standards, and regulatory requirements
🧬 Required Qualifications:
- BS degree with 2–4 years OR MS degree with 0–2 years of relevant experience in Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Industry experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, or CDMO environments
- Strong understanding of protein stability, thermodynamics, and degradation mechanisms
- Hands-on experience with analytical and/or biophysical characterization techniques
- Ability to independently execute experiments with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
⭐ Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with biophysical and low-volume analytical assays
- Familiarity with ELN systems, e-logbooks, or laboratory data management tools
- Experience in laboratory instrumentation maintenance (PMs, calibration, software updates)
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot scientific challenges
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
