Instructional Assistant – Job Duties & Responsibilities

West Perry Elementary

• Assist certified teachers with daily classroom instruction and student supervision.
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills and classroom lessons.
• Support students with assignments, reading, math practice, and instructional activities.
• Help maintain a positive, safe, and organized classroom environment.
• Monitor student behavior and assist with classroom management strategies.
• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, bus duty, and other assigned activities.
• Prepare instructional materials, copies, bulletin boards, and classroom resources as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with technology use and educational programs in the classroom.
• Support students with special learning, behavioral, or physical needs as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, staff, students, and parents when appropriate.
• Participate in school trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
• Follow district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.
