Job Summary
Perry Co Central High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies educator to join our dynamic team. This full-time position involves teaching students in grades 9-12, fostering critical thinking, and promoting an understanding of historical, cultural, and civic concepts. The ideal candidate will engage students through innovative teaching methods and create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and a love for learning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum goals for Social Studies.
• Facilitate classroom discussions and activities that promote critical thinking and analysis of social, political, and historical issues.
• Assess and evaluate student performance through various methods, including tests, projects, and presentations.
• Provide timely feedback to students and maintain accurate records of their progress.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that respects diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the Social Studies curriculum and participate in professional development opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Participate in school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities to foster a strong school community.
• Stay current with educational best practices and incorporate technology into the classroom to enhance learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification for grades 9-12 in Social Studies.
• Strong knowledge of Social Studies content, including history, geography, government, and economics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and collaborate with staff and parents.
• Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Experience with differentiated instruction and adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
• Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about educational trends and standards.
