With a strong reputation in the insurance, financial services, and professional services sectors, the firm provides comprehensive legal counsel in litigation, regulatory compliance, and transactional matters. Known for its deep industry knowledge and collaborative approach, our client serves clients of all sizes across highly regulated industries including healthcare, aviation, and real estate.
Our client is seeking a Litigation Paralegal for their Inselin, New Jersey office. This full-time role involves supporting attorneys in insurance defense and general civil litigation matters. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage cases from inception through trial preparation.
Responsibilities
- Review and manage case files from inception through mediation, arbitration, and trial
- Perform e-Filing in State and Federal Court systems
- Prepare subpoenas for depositions and document productions
- Draft initial discovery requests (interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions)
- Prepare draft responses to discovery, including document productions and privilege logs
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely responses
- Assist attorneys with deposition preparation and prepare deposition summaries
- Research, vet, and engage subject matter experts
- Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, chronologies, agreements, and trial binders
- Record and capture billable time in compliance with client guidelines
- Investigate facts as requested by attorneys
- Ensure proper indexing and filing of original legal documents
- Assist with trial preparation, including subpoenas, trial notebooks, exhibit lists, and witness management
- Attend trial as necessary
Required Qualifications
- Previous law firm experience required; Am Law 200, leading regional, or major boutique firm experience preferred
- Minimum of three years of general civil litigation experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, LexisNexis, PACER, Relativity, and trial presentation software (e.g., Sanction, TrialPad)
- Experience with e-Filing in State and Federal Court systems
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage trial preparation and participate in trial, including organizing witness materials and exhibits
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex litigation, medical malpractice, construction, and products liability matters
- Familiarity with exhibit manipulation software such as Sanction, Trial Director, TrialPad, and PowerPoint
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
This position requires working days in the office per week. This position allows two days working from home per week.
Salary : $75,000 - $100,000
