The Domestic Freight Coordinator is responsible for managing and monitoring day-to-day domestic freight shipments, ensuring timely pickup and delivery, and providing excellent communication to clients, carriers, and internal teams. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute domestic freight shipments from pickup through final delivery.
- Book shipments with carriers, negotiate rates when applicable, and ensure compliance with company and customer requirements.
- Track and trace freight movements, resolving delays or issues proactively.
- Maintain accurate shipment documentation including BOLs, carrier confirmations, and delivery receipts.
- Communicate shipment status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Assist in carrier management, including sourcing and onboarding carriers as needed.
- Work closely with internal operations, customer service, and accounting to ensure smooth workflow.
- Support problem resolution and exception management for time-sensitive or high-priority shipments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of domestic logistics processes.
Qualifications
- Required: Some experience in domestic freight, transportation, trucking, or logistics (freight forwarding experience a plus).
- Understanding of basic freight operations such as LTL, FTL, expedited, or intermodal.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
