Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery.
- Receive, review, and process shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and arrival notices.
- Communicate proactively with overseas agents, ocean carriers, customs brokers, trucking companies, warehouses, and customers.
- Monitor shipment status and provide timely updates to customers.
- Arrange inland transportation and delivery appointments.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of shipment records within the freight forwarding system.
- Review vendor invoices, prepare customer billing, and ensure file profitability.
- Resolve shipment delays, documentation discrepancies, and service issues efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and company operating procedures.
- Support continuous process improvements and maintain high service standards.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in ocean import freight forwarding.
- Working knowledge of international shipping documentation and import processes.
- Experience coordinating with steamship lines, overseas agents, and customs brokers.
- Strong understanding of Incoterms and ocean freight operations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Experience using freight forwarding software such as CargoWise, Descartes, Magaya, or similar systems is preferred.
