Ocean Import Coordinator

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Ocean Import Coordinator to join their Atlanta-based freight forwarding team. This role is responsible for managing ocean import shipments from origin through final delivery, ensuring timely movement, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery
• Track shipments and provide timely status updates to customers and internal teams
• Prepare, review, and process import documentation including Bills of Lading, Arrival Notices, and delivery orders
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and internal SOPs
• Communicate with overseas agents, steamship lines, customs brokers, truckers, and warehouses
• Resolve shipment issues such as delays, documentation discrepancies, or cargo holds
• Accurately enter shipment data, billing details, and milestones into the operating system
• Assist with freight invoicing, auditing, and file profitability review
• Maintain organized shipment files and support management with reporting as needed

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in ocean import operations within a freight forwarding or logistics environment preferred
• Working knowledge of ocean import processes, Incoterms, and international shipping documentation
• Familiarity with U.S. Customs import procedures and compliance requirements
• CargoWise experience preferred but not required (training can be provided)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
