The COTA works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide direct patient care. This role focuses on helping residents improve independence with daily living activities while supporting overall function and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve strength, coordination, and daily living skills
- Monitor patient progress and report changes to supervising therapist
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy techniques and goals
- Accurately document treatments and patient responses in accordance with regulations
- SNF or long-term care experience preferred
- Knowledge of current therapy practices
- Experience with Net Health or similar EMR systems preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Current COTA license in the State of New Mexico
- License must be active and in good standing
