What You'll Do: The Office of Management Information Systems (OMIS) administers the computer-based management systems across the ODH enterprise. The office is responsible for maintaining ODH computer networks and servers and for the development and implementation of strategies that support the current and future technology needs of the agency. We are seeking a Software Development Specialist 1 to to develop and/or modify programs for computer applications, perform testing and debugging and assist with analysis and design. The primary technology for this position is Software Testing/Quality Assurance (QA) Tools.

This Position Will
- Write manual and automated test cases and/or scripts for unit and systems testing to validate software functionality, usability and performance with minimal to no supervision
- Execute test scripts and assist in executing functional test scripts independently
- Verify and document test results to ensure software is producing desired results
- Assist in creating and maintaining test cases, test scripts, and test data to conduct performance testing and security scanning
- Create or set-up test data for performing test scenarios
- Assist in supporting user acceptance testing
- Perform software implementation tasks, including source control and deployment activities
- Create and/or modify necessary software testing documentation (e.g., test plan, test cases, automated test scripts, performance testing scripts) in accordance with agency standards
- Use report generators, data manipulation tools, data query tools (e.g., SQL), program tracing/debugging tools, software development tools and versioning tools as required
- Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems AND 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
- Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 12 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
- Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above. - Undergraduate or advanced degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
- Experience with writing automated tests with Playwright &/or Selenium
- Experience in software testing & implementation processes (e.g., User Acceptance Testing, Source Control Management)
- Experience using Azure DevOps to document test cases and project progress throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experience using Git as a software repository
- Experience with writing Structured Query Language (SQL) queries using tools such as SQL Server Mgmt. Studio
