The Bureau of Maternal, Child, and Family Health (BMCFH) is organized to support families by improving birth outcomes and the health status of women, infants, children, and youth, including children and youth with complex health care needs. Using data and proven practice, the bureau’s programs support the delivery of direct services, linkages and referrals, population-based supports, program evaluation, education, monitoring and quality oversight, and policy and systems development.
The Bureau of Maternal, Child and Family Health is looking to fill two Regional Public Health Consultant positions to support and lead public health initiatives focused on improving early childhood health outcomes through program development, stakeholder collaboration, and data-driven decision-making. Duties include:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion initiatives and training for professionals across the state.
- Monitor and analyze health data to identify community needs and improve program effectiveness.
- Provide technical assistance and conduct site visits to ensure program compliance and success.
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools, healthcare providers and community organizations.
- Develop and deliver trainings, presentations, and educational materials for diverse audiences.
- Support development of policies, program strategies, and evaluation frameworks.
- Coordinate data collection, reporting, and performance tracking for state and federal programs.
- Prepare reports, presentations and communications to support program goals and leadership decision-making.
- Assist with grant management, including application review, budget tracking, and funding recommendations.
- Develop and manage contracts, review invoices and support procurement-related activities.
- Conduct research and develop strategic documents such as reports, white papers and program materials.
- Respond to stakeholder inquiries and provide subject matter expertise in public health initiatives.
- Participate in committees, cross-functional teams and statewide planning efforts.
Position Qualifications
Option 1:
- 6 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)
- Completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field
- Must be able to provide own transportation.
Option 2
- 18 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)
- Completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field
- Must be able to provide own transportation.
Additional Qualifications

Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria:
- Graduate or advanced degree in public health, health care, health administration or related field
- Experience working with computer software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience working in collaboration with other programs/agencies and/or organizations to develop and implement programs through technical assistance and/or consultation and professional development.
- Experience in researching and evaluating scientific literature on early childhood or health
- Experience writing educational/instructional, grant or guidance materials
- Experience in conducting needs assessments, collecting data, and analyzing Early Childhood Education related health information to produce reports
- Experience in developing and presenting education/training and/or public speaking
- Experience in providing recommendations for action (e.g., quality improvement)
- Experience working in the Early Childhood Education field and/or profession (e.g., childcare, early intervention, home visiting, social work)
- Experience facilitating committees, meetings or focus groups.
