Position Summary
The Culinary Arts Instructor plays a key role in shaping the next generation of culinary professionals by providing hands-on technical instruction and mentorship to students in the Culinary Arts Program. Working under the direction of the Program Director and Culinary Arts Program Coordinator, this position supports both classroom and kitchen learning, verifies student competencies, and contributes to daily meal and dessert production. The instructor also assists with catering services and actively builds partnerships with local employers and educational organizations to enhance student opportunities and program success.

Essential Functions
1. Provide students with technical instruction in a safe, clean, and productive learning environment; maintain student records to include verification of attendance and competency completion.
2. Assist with operations management in the Culinary Arts Program and Campus Grille.
3. Meet programmatic and accrediting body goals for student completion, placement, and licensure.
4. Assist students with job placement and applicable industry or state certifications/licenses in support of meeting placement and licensure/certification goals.
5. Exemplify, motivate, and advise students in the areas of program and college expectations and appropriate work behavior and dress standards. Assist counselors, supervisors, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student success.
6. Maintain contact with area employers; seek and implement feedback to continuously improve program curricula and training facilities to meet industry standards in support of completion, placement and certification/licensure.
7. Complete ongoing professional development to increase technical expertise and instructional skills.
8. Provide oversight of program budgets and assets; recommend purchases.
9. Interact in a positive and professional manner with students, coworkers, and college partners seeking win-win solutions.
10. Complete assignments within established timelines in preparation for employer advisory team meetings, college team meetings, and programmatic accreditation.
11. Work cooperatively within the college community. Actively serve on college teams as assigned and participate in programmatic and college-wide marketing activities.
12. The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
1. Must have a minimum of two years of work experience in the culinary industry with documented practical experience in kitchen and restaurant management, culinary related accounting, fine dining, short order dining, and catering services.
2. Must possess a certificate or Associate Degree from an accredited culinary program. Management or supervisory experience preferred.
3. ServSafe or equivalent Food Safety Management Certification required.
4. Teaching experience and/or curriculum development experience preferred.
5. Proficient in using computers, computer technology, and computer software related to position.
6. Spanish speaking proficiency desirable.
Physical Requirements:
1. Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 40 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
2. Risks found in the typical kitchen setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of kitchen equipment & cleaning chemicals, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Additional Information
WORKING SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday: 12:00pm- 8:00pm and Friday: 7:30am – 3:30pm
CONDITIONAL OFFER: A conditional offer of employment will be made pending satisfactory completion of a background investigation.
