What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Phlebotomy Instructor position at Ogden-Weber Technical College?

As a Phlebotomy Instructor, you’ll work with a collaborative team to deliver hands-on, skills-based training and support for students enrolled in our Phlebotomy Program. Responsibilities include:
- Teaching technical and administrative courses using provided curriculum
- Leading small-group and one-on-one coaching sessions
- Verifying student competencies and maintaining accurate records
- Advising students and supporting retention, membership, and placement goals
2. Meet programmatic and accrediting body goals for student completion, placement, and licensure.
3. Maintain student records to include verification of attendance and competency completion.
4. Assist students with job placement and applicable industry or state certifications/licenses in support of meeting placement and licensure/certification goals.
5. Contribute to the retention of students enrolled in college courses.
6. Exemplify, motivate, and advise students in the areas of program and college expectations and appropriate work behavior and dress standards. Assist counselors, supervisor, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student success.
7. Complete ongoing professional development to increase technical expertise and instructional skills.
8. Interact in a positive and professional manner with students, coworkers, and college partners seeking win-win solutions.
9. Complete assignments within established timelines in preparation for occupational advisory committee meetings, college team meetings, and programmatic accreditation.
10. Work cooperatively within the college community. Actively serve on college teams as assignedand participate in programmatic and college-wide marketing activities.
11. The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of documented phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
- Must have completed a formal phlebotomy training program from an accredited institution.
- Preference will be given to individuals who possess a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT)credential.
- Preference will be given to individuals who have teaching experience.
- Proficient in using computers, computer technology, and computer software related to position.
Physical Requirements:
- Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 40 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
WORKING HOURS:
This part-time position offers up to 29 hours per week.
Classroom hours:
- Mon: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Tue–Thu: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Fri: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Shifts will be scheduled within these times to ensure coverage. Specific days and hours may vary weekly based on program needs.
