We are seeking a Rough Inspector to join our manufacturing team in O'Fallon. In this hands-on role, you will process castings through inspection, grinding, blending, and finishing to ensure parts meet quality and customer standards. This is a great opportunity for individuals who take pride in detail-oriented work and enjoy working in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspection of castings to identify defects and areas requiring rework
- Grind, blend, and remove burrs, flash, and excess metal while maintaining part dimensions and cosmetic standards
- Mark castings requiring weld repair and route appropriately; blend and finish welded parts
- Remove gate stubs and complete finishing processes
- Maintain batch integrity and proper part tracking
- Use calipers, gauges, and other tools to verify part quality
- Prepare finished castings for final processing or shipment when required
- Accurately maintain production records and documentation
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper lifting techniques
- Participate in required training, including hazardous materials handling
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Hand sand cabinets
- Burr guns and hand tools
- Calipers, gauges, and inspection tools
- Abrasive rolls and grinding equipment
- Air hoses and related finishing tools
- Aluminum, copper, and brass castings
- Grinding belts, sand, and abrasives
- Cutting fluids and related materials
- Industrial manufacturing setting
- Exposure to airborne grinding dust
- PPE required at all times
- Moderate to high noise levels
- Ability to perform physically demanding work (standing, lifting, repetitive tasks)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Previous manufacturing or inspection experience preferred, but not required
