What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extrusion Technician Helper position at Northstar Logix Inc?
To assist the Extrusion Operator in the production of extruded plastic film with the objective of learning the role and advancing to become an Extrusion Operator.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operation Support:
- Assist with machine changeovers, start-ups, and shut downs.
- "Web the line" (threading material through the production line).
- Cycle and unload winders.
- Operate the bale machine.
- Care for extrusion lines during the operator's breaks or busy periods.
Material Handling:
- Transport materials and cut cores as needed.
- Check resin levels and verify silo connections against work orders at shift start.
- Properly clean out the resin system.
- Weigh and stage production.
- Drive a forklift.
- Wrap finished pallets.
Quality & Documentation:
- Perform quality control checks and accurately document results on quality check sheets.
- Enter production and downtime data into the DCU (Data Collection Unit).
- Create and print finished goods labels for inventory.
- Document downtime and production on the production report.
Safety & Housekeeping:
- Understand and adhere to all safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Ensure daily compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) protocols.
- Perform other related duties and housekeeping tasks as directed.
Teamwork:
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Conduct oneself professionally when interacting with other employees and contractors.
- Assist other employees in the performance of their jobs as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, OR 3 years of relevant work experience.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods on hard surfaces.
- Ability to climb up to 60 feet.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
