Summary:
The Clinical Support Informaticist I is a unique role that combines clinical knowledge and expertise in clinical informatics. This combined role serves both as a medical assistant (MA) supporting direct patient care and as a resource in promoting the effective and efficient use of our electronic health records (EHRs).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will encompass all the duties in the current Clinic Support Medical Assistant Job Description.

Provide end-user support for EPIC including coaching, workflows and at-the-elbow support for all departments.

Support EHR new hire orientation and follow up training.

Develop and maintain EHR documentation including current workflows, standardization projects, user manuals, procedures and troubleshooting guidelines.

Support the implementation of EHR upgrades, optimizations, and new systems, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal disruption to clinical operations.

Act as a liaison between IT teams and end-users to translate clinical needs into technical solutions.

Collaborate with clinical and operational staff to assess and refine workflows, ensuring they align with best practices and organizational goals.

Contribute to Quality Department special projects.
Qualifications:
-
Current MA-R or MA-C, working at a 1.0 FTE in the Clinical Support Department

Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification required

Proficiency in EHR systems, with experience in Epic strongly preferred.

Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, willingness to both teach and learn in a collaborative environment

Physical Demands:

Utilize computers in the collection, management, and reporting of patient records

This position will work in a variety of settings, requiring frequent standing, walking, and handling of medical instruments and supplies

Occasional exposure to pathogens and biohazards, requiring adherence to infection control protocols

Must follow ergonomic practices to ensure safety during patient assistance and lifting activities

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum 50 pounds without assistance
Work Environment:

This position is unique in that the Informaticist will split their time between being an active MA supporting the Clinical Support Department and working with the Quality Team to support EPIC across the organization, in either an office setting or with at-the-elbow support

Ability to work with a diverse, sometimes difficult and demanding patient population

Normal overtime/extended work hours in line with staffing needs for both departments
