Role Description This role will be hourly or part time to start, with the ability to move to full-time in the future. The Art Therapist will provide direct clinical services using art-based interventions to support clients in addressing mental health, behavioral, and developmental needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, facilitating individual and group art therapy sessions, and documenting clinical progress in accordance with professional standards. The role involves collaborating with other providers, participating in case consultations, and contributing to program development focused on expressive arts therapies.
Qualifications
- Certified Art Therapist - ATR, ATR-P or ATR-BC
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Art Therapy for clinical assessment and intervention.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Mental Health and Psychology to support trauma-informed, evidence-informed therapeutic practice.
- Candidates should possess experience or readiness for Clinical Supervision, including receiving supervision and, where licensed and applicable, providing supervision to trainees.
- Relevant master’s degree in art therapy, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Eligible for or holding appropriate state licensure or credentialing in art therapy or mental health counseling, in line with Virginia regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working with varied populations (e.g., children, adolescents, adults, neurodivergent individuals) and commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive care.
- Ability to maintain clear clinical documentation, manage caseload responsibilities, and uphold ethical and professional standards.
