Sr Project Manager - Affordable Housing
Location: New York, NY
Salary Range: $180,000 to $225,000
Overview
A well established construction management firm is seeking an experienced Sr PM to lead largescale residential and affordable housing projects in New York City. The ideal candidate has experience with tenant-in-place renovations, NYCHA or other public sector projects, and a strong understanding of local building codes and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all phases of construction from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate the work of subcontractors, consultants, and field staff to maintain project efficiency.
- Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and progress reports for both internal teams and clients.
- Review drawings and specifications, prepare scopes of work, and assist in bid evaluations.
- Manage permitting, inspections, and project documentation in line with city and agency requirements.
- Monitor quality control and safety programs to ensure compliance with all standards.
- Lead project meetings and maintain strong communication between ownership, design teams, and field operations.
- Identify issues early and provide proactive solutions to minimize disruptions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- 10 or more years of experience managing construction projects, with a focus on affordable housing, NYCHA, or mixed use developments.
- Strong understanding of union and prevailing wage requirements.
- Excellent organizational, budgeting, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and communicate effectively with all project stakeholders.
- Familiarity with NYC building codes, DOB requirements, and permitting processes.
