Regional Property Manager – Affordable Housing Portfolio | Metro NYC
An established and growing affordable housing organization is seeking a hands-on, solutions-driven Regional Property Manager to oversee a multifamily portfolio throughout the Metro NYC market. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced affordable housing professional who understands the complexity of New York City operations and is passionate about building strong teams, improving performance, and creating long-term operational stability.
The ideal candidate is a strong operator who can lead from the front — someone equally comfortable walking properties with superintendents, addressing compliance concerns, improving collections, managing capital projects, and communicating professionally with ownership, investors, and city agencies. This is not a “sit behind the desk and delegate” role. The organization is looking for a leader who can roll up their sleeves, implement accountability, mentor teams, and help establish a stronger culture across the portfolio.
This role is especially well-suited for a bilingual Spanish-speaking professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands NYC affordable housing regulations, and wants the opportunity to make a measurable impact within a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations across an affordable housing portfolio in the Metro NYC market
- Lead and support Property Managers, Maintenance Supervisors, superintendents, and onsite teams
- Improve operational consistency, accountability, and team performance across properties
- Drive improvements in collections, subsidy administration, and occupancy performance
- Address violations and work proactively to ensure regulatory compliance
- Oversee vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and service performance
- Conduct regular property walks to identify operational, maintenance, and compliance issues
- Partner with ownership, investors, and city agencies while maintaining strong professional communication
- Support and manage capital improvement projects and property upgrades
- Develop training initiatives and operational standards for onsite teams
- Help establish streamlined policies, procedures, and a collaborative company culture
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Regional Property Manager
- Strong affordable housing experience required
- Deep knowledge of:
- HUD
- LIHTC
- 421a
- NYC rent stabilization
- NYC housing rules and regulations
- Bilingual Spanish highly preferred
- Proven experience leading operational turnaround initiatives
- Experience managing violations, collections, subsidy processes, and compliance challenges
- Strong leadership presence with a hands-on management style
- Ability to mentor, train, and elevate onsite teams
- Experience overseeing capital projects and vendor management
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
