What are the responsibilities and job description for the 401(k) Retirement Consultant position at MOHR Talent?
401(k) Retirement Consultant (Part-Time)
Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000
Location: Simsbury, CT (Onsite Client Engagement)
You know 401(k)s. Now step into a role where you actually use that expertise.
We’re partnering with a growing advisory firm looking for a seasoned retirement plan professional who can step in, own client relationships, and confidently represent the firm in front of both executives and participants.
This is not a back-office role. This is front-of-the-room, client-facing, high-trust work.
What you’ll own:
- Advising clients on plan design, strategy, and fiduciary responsibility
- Leading participant meetings and delivering clear, confident presentations
- Overseeing plan health — benchmarking, compliance, and optimization
- Acting as the go-to expert for retirement plan questions
- Working directly with advisors to deepen client relationships
What sets this role apart:
- You’ll be trusted to run with it — not micromanaged
- Direct impact on client experience and firm growth
- Flexibility of a part-time role without sacrificing meaningful work
- Opportunity to shape how retirement services are delivered
What we’re looking for:
- 5 years of deep 401(k) / retirement plan experience
- Strong command of ERISA, compliance, and plan operations
- Someone who can walk into a room and own it
- Polished, credible, and highly professional presence
- Experience with plan design, benchmarking, and fiduciary guidance
Preferred: Series 7 & 66 | QKA, QKC, CPFA
Ideal fit:
- An experienced professional who enjoys the client side of the business
- Someone who takes pride in delivering a high-level experience
- Possibly coming from a larger firm and looking for more impact and visibility
Why this role:
- High-level work without full-time burnout
- Be the expert — not just part of the process
- Work closely with decision-makers and advisors
- Real influence on clients and growth
If you’re at the point in your career where you want quality of work over quantity, this is a strong move.
