Robot Product Manager Job Description
General Overview:
As a product manager at FPE, you will be the subject matter expert on the specific lines that you are responsible for. The primary duties include:
•
Working with the outside sales team to identify and close opportunities
•
Developing the capability to make recommendations for unique and specific customer applications
•
Partnering with vendors to implement sales initiatives that capture new market share
•
Completing proof of concepts and application testing to close business
•
Maintaining a strong working knowledge of the product family and supporting ecosystem
•
Assisting management in business planning, determining and meeting sales quotas, and maintaining a strong relationship with our vendors
•
Monitoring the competitive landscape and adjusting our sales pitch to maintain our competitive edge
•
Collaborate with the application engineering team to provide pre and post-sales support to the customers
Primary Responsibilities:
Product Knowledge:
•
Develop a deep understanding of the Universal Robots, MiR, Kawasaki, and Epson product lines, including the ancillary components that accompany those solutions.
•
Stay updated on industry trends and competitors' products.
•
Develop the capability to identify opportunities for robotic solutions and propose the appropriate technology that would solve the customers challenge(s).
Customer Engagement:
•
Assisting in finding, facilitating and generating opportunities surrounding the primary product lines
•
Focus on targeted customers that reside in our Southern Territory (Missouri and Southern Illinois), including customers that our traditional sales force has not called on historically e.g. Machine Shops, MRO customers, etc.
•
Complete Proof-of-Concept work at our lab or onsite on opportunities that arise through your direct efforts or that of our sales team
•
Collaborate with the outside sales team to complete robot demos & win projects that result in new business or market share
Additional Responsibilities:
•
Become the “subject matter expert” for all things Universal Robots, MiR, Epson, and Kawasaki for the rest of the company to leverage
•
Assist management with reporting and identifying large projects in the appropriate vendor funnels
•
Serve as the commercial first line of defense for our HandShake Solutions team out of the South office
Qualifications:
•
Engineering Degree or technical background with relevant experience
•
Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
•
Coding or Programming Experience preferred but not required
•
Ability to adapt to dynamic customer requests and create customer-facing presentations
•
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
•
Experience in the automation industry preferred but not required
•
Strong organizational skills with a clearly demonstrated ability to juggle multiple requests at once
•
Ability to read and analyze 2D and 3D drawings is preferred but not required
•
Experience with Microsoft suite of products (access not necessary)
