Responsibilities
Job Description
- Lead and perform protection and control (P&C) design for high-voltage substations (69 kV - 500 kV) in transmission and distribution networks
- Create relay coordination studies, SCADA schematics, control wiring diagrams using tools such as ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, and SEL relays
- Partner with physical design and civil/structural engineering teams to ensure high-quality, constructible designs, and schedule adherence
- Conduct protection coordination, relay settings, and system analysis using tools such as ASPEN, CAPE, or ETAP
- Review P&C deliverables for compliance with NESC, IEEE, and client standards
- Mentor and inspire early-career engineers, fostering technical growth and team collaboration - you'll be a technical leader and a role model
- Support proposal efforts and provide input on project scoping, schedule, and cost estimating for new projects
The Successful Applicant
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and an active PE license
- 8 years of experience in protection & control or power systems engineering for utilities, EPCs, or consulting firms
- Proficiency with relays, SCADA systems, and protection engineering tools (ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, SEL)
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage substation layouts, grounding, and protection schemes
- Excellent communication, project leadership, and mentoring skills with a strong eye for detail and quality
- A genuine passion for innovation and helping shape the next generation of substation engineers
