About Our Client

Our client is a highly respected general contractor that focuses on infrastructure and transportation projects across the Chicagoland area. Known for their strong company culture and stability, they've been recognized as one of Chicago's Top Places to Work for six years running.

As the company continues to grow, they're seeking a Project Accountant to join their team. This individual will be responsible for managing project financials, including job cost tracking, billing, and compliance. They'll work closely with Project Managers to provide accurate reporting and ensure timely payments to vendors and subcontractors.

Job Description

Project Accountant Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices and ensure accurate job cost allocation
• Review purchase orders against Procore budgets and enter direct costs
• Maintain AP records and resolve outstanding issues with vendors
• Collect and review weekly time sheets for accuracy
• Enter approved payroll into QuickBooks and allocate costs in Procore
• Prepare and submit Certified Payrolls for prevailing wage projects
• Assist Project Managers with monthly billing and submission of owner packages
• Review cost reports to help identify variances in actuals vs. projections
• Enter subcontractor invoices and track lien waivers and compliance

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline
• Hands-on accounting experience within the construction industry
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments
• Effective communicator with solid organizational abilities
• Skilled at managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment
• Ability to collaborate and work well with others
