About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Materials Manager to oversee procurement operations, ensuring timely delivery of quality materials at competitive prices. In this role, you will direct and coordinate the activities of personnel involved in purchasing and distributing raw materials, components, and supplies. Your expertise in supply chain management and negotiation skills will be crucial to our success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective policies and procedures for purchasing, MRO buying, VMI, and capital requests, optimizing material-related activities.
- Establish and monitor long-term goals for Materials Buyers, measuring their performance in task completion and work quality.
- Direct and implement systems to meet or exceed customer production requirements, ensuring seamless supply chain operations.
- Negotiate prices, discounts, and delivery dates with suppliers, establishing sourcing strategies to support new product schedules and maintain supply continuity.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing excess inventory, implementing cycle count programs and E&O reviews.
- Improve IQMS processes to ensure adequate material stocks are available on time and within specification, supporting operations and meeting customer demand.
- Reduce material and service costs through value analysis techniques, including alternate sourcing and innovative partnering agreements.
- Champion and develop IQMS Modules, validating system accuracy and ensuring a steady flow of raw materials and components.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 3 years of supervisory experience in materials management.
- Strong background in plastic materials and processing.
- Proficiency in using spreadsheet and word processing software.
Preferred Skills
- Automotive experience with knowledge of OEM customer systems.
- Experience with inventory management, logistics, and shipping/receiving.
- Working knowledge in the design of injection molds.
- Excellent communication, organization, and meeting coordination skills.
